Code Club

Code club in Dunamase College was founded in 2021. Code club takes place during lunch time at and is open to all students who have an interest in coding. No prior knowledge is required and students of all levels can attend.

The aim of code club is to encourage students to learn code and develop their problem solving skills while having fun. At the club, we are learning coding skills with the help of Aoife Daly.

Code is shaping our world today and teaching students how to code will give them the confidence and opportunity to shape our world.

Code club provides an opportunity to work together and learn through a fun environment. Students have learned to use Scratch, micro:bit, HTML & CSS and python. We have had many exciting projects such as games, animations, webpages and more recently micro:bit projects.

Code club has celebrated EU Code Week this year and some students entered the Astro Pi: Mission Zero Raspberry Pi Project.

Here are some resources that students use in Code Club:

Scratch: Scratch - Imagine, Program, Share (mit.edu)

Hour of Code – Star Wars: Star Wars | Code.org

Raspberry Pi: http://www.raspberrypi.org/

Micro:bit: Microsoft MakeCode for micro:bit (microbit.org)
