Senior Cycle Subjects
As part of Senior Cycle in Dunamase College, students engage with a variety of subjects.
The Senior Cycle programme is ran over two years. The programme aims to provide learners with a broad, balanced education while also offering them a chance to specialise towards particular higher education and career options.Typically students would study seven subjects at either Higher or Ordinary Level. Students also have the option of taking up LCVP as an additional eight subject.
Leaving Certificate Points System
All subjects at Leaving Certificate carry equal points with the exception of Higher Level Maths which has a bonus of 25 points if you get over 40%.
Maximum Leaving Certificate points are 625.
Higher Level Subjects = 100 points.
Ordinary Level Subjects = 56 points.
LCVP (Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme)
60% Portfolio & 40% Exam.
Portfolio: CV, Action Plan, Career Investigation, Summary Report, submitted early March.
Exam: Written exam in May. Requires more practice than study.
Two classes per week that includes work experience in 5th Year.
Distinction = 66 points (H4)
Merit = 46 points (H6)
Pass = 28 points (O4)
